Anti Hypersonic Feature will be added to S-400 Air Defense System

It was reported that the improved version of the S-400 Triumf air defense system may have anti-hypersonic properties.

Yuriy Knutov, Director of the Balashi-based Air Defense Museum in the Moscow Region, told Russia Today (RT) television, that the S-400 and S-500 air defense systems and the Peresvet self-propelled laser system may have anti-hypersonic properties in new versions.

Knutov said that the Russian army already has vehicles capable of hitting and detecting some hypersonic targets, among them the A-135 air defense system used in Moscow defense with the Protivnik-GE radar.

Dmitriy Kornev, founder of the MilitaryRussia portal, said that other types of weapons developed on the basis of new physics principles that use directed energy can also acquire anti-hypersonic possibilities during modernization.

"The S-500 has the function of hitting hypersonic targets, especially ballistic missiles warheads from the beginning, but other air defense systems such as the S-400 and Buk-M3 can also hit hypersonic vehicles," Kornev told RT. Laser and microwave weapons will also have this feature in the future. ”

Expressing that the destruction of hypersonic vehicles is a difficult task, the expert noted that in order to fulfill this task, a powerful radar, digital signal processing system, high performance computer, fast missile and a quality fake target separation system are needed.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that other countries would 'be surprised' when he developed hypersonic attack missiles, since Russia would likely have the opportunity to cope with these weapons, suggesting that anti-hypersonic systems were developed in the country.
