With the experience obtained from the T-629, T-129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter Project, Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii A.Ş. It is an offensive helicopter developed by (TAI).
The "Conceptual Design Start" of the T-629 Attack Helicopter, developed with the resources of the Turkish Aviation and Space Industry, was held on August 14, 2017. It is estimated that the T-629 is the same as the project known to the public as "ATAK-II". It is known that the design activities of the T-629 have been completed to a great extent.
Thanks to the T-629, which is one of the three attack helicopter projects currently carried out by Turkish Aerospace Industries, Turkey will have an intermediate platform between the five-ton T-129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter and the ten-ton Heavy Class Attack Helicopter. AzamKnown to weigh six tons, the T-629 Attack Helicopter will have a similar appearance to the T-129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter. One ton heavier than the T-129 ATAK, the T-629 will have more ammunition – especially 20mm cannon ammunition – and sensor capacity.
It is known that the T-2023 Attack Helicopter, whose flight tests are planned to start in 629, will use common systems with the GÖKBEY General Purpose Helicopter.
