Delivery of PorSav Very Low Altitude Air Defense Missile Starts

Within the scope of the Portable Air Defense Missile System Project (PORSAV), which is carried out in cooperation with ASELSAN and Roketsan, delivery activities are planned to start in a short time.

During the live broadcast with the sector magazines, the Defense Industry Presidency, about the subject. Dr. İsmail DEMİR announced that the deliveries are close in the PorSav Project, which was launched within the scope of the need for an Air Defense Missile.

PorSav Very Low Altitude Air Defense Missile

PorSav (Portable Defense) is a Very Low Altitude Air Defense Missile developed under the auspices of the Defense Industry Directorate (SSB) and with the cooperation of ASELSAN and Roketsan, with the experience gained from HISAR and Stinger projects. PorSav Missile, which we can also call as Air Defense Missile (MANPADS), will replace the FIM-92 Stinger MANPADS, which are also found in the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) inventory. The system will be much more advanced in terms of altitude / range and guidance than FIM-92 Stinger.

porsav; It is also called “Native MANPADS”, “HİSAR Portable” and “National Portable Air Defense Missile”. Testing activities are still ongoing.

PorSav Missile, which can also be used by Pedestal Mounted Systems and Assault Helicopters, is planned to be effective on aircraft up to 4km altitude and 6km + range. PorSav's biggest advantage is that it will use the Imager Infrared (IIR) Seeker Head instead of the Infrared (IR) Seeker Head, which is also used in the Stinger Missile. IR Guided Missiles can be easily deceived by countermeasure systems called "Flare" since they focus on the high heat emitting region. IIR Guided Missiles, on the other hand, are very difficult to be deceived by countermeasure systems since they are locked to the entire target thanks to the "viewer" system. It is estimated that a IIR Title similar to the IIR Title used in the HİSAR project will be used in the PorSav Missile.
