Ümraniye Göztepe Metro at the Service of Istanbulites in 2022

İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu examined on-site studies in the city during the curfew. İmamoğlu made investigations in the construction of a metro site in Ataşehir, wastewater in Ümraniye and a multi-storey car park in Üsküdar. Reminding that they have restarted the construction works of “Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe Metro Line”, a project that has been stopped since 2017, İmamoğlu said, “Hopefully, service on this busy line starting from Göztepe Park in 2019 and ending in Ümraniye. "We will give our valuable metro a gift to Istanbul residents."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu restarted the construction works of the “Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe Metro Line”, a project that has stopped since 2017, on 20 September 2019. Despite the pandemic process that influenced the whole world, İmamoğlu examined the works on the line, which are still under construction. Having descended to the Ataşehir Station construction site about 25 meters deep, İmamoğlu received information about the works from the Head of Rail Systems Department Pelin Alpkökin. İmamoğlu was accompanied by the Mayor of Ataşehir Battal İlgezdi. Imamoglu and his accompanying delegation, after examining, took a business vehicle and made a 500-meter trip along the metro line tunnel.

“WE WILL MOVE FAST”

Following the operation of the tunnel boiler TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) on site, İmamoğlu shared the following information about the line: “The project has been stopped since 2017. Starting from Ataşehir, where Göztepe took its intensity, zama line meeting with Ümraniye at the moment. It is expected to have a 400 thousand capacity line per day. Therefore, this line had to run. Our friends made loan attempts related to this construction site. This is the case from 2017 to 2019. We mobilized the construction site at that time, with a financing of 175 million Euros. Intensive work has been carried out since September 2019. 2 CPCs are working. The performance of the TBM here reached a distance of 1 kilometer. 2 more CPCs will be activated in May and June. We will act fast. We will commission a metro line with 11 stops and a distance of approximately 16 kilometers. Our intention is to launch this line in mid-2022. Pelin Hanım has just said, it is also pleasing; I think towards the end of 2021, CPCs will be finished. Other construction works will of course continue. I hope that in 2022, we will present a very valuable metro to Istanbul residents, serving on this busy line starting from Göztepe Park and ending in Umraniye.

REVIEW OF FOUR INVESTMENTS IN TWO DIFFERENT DISTRICTS

İmamoğlu moved to Ümraniye after the metro examination in Ataşehir. İmamoğlu received information from İSKİ General Manager Raif Mermutlu about the works carried out in 3 different locations in Ümraniye (Intersection of Libadiye Avenue. Üsküdar was the last stop of Imamoglu on the Asian side. Ümküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen was accompanied by İmamoğlu, who was conducting investigations in the construction of the Hakimiyet-i Milliye Bazaar and Ground Floor Parking Lot in the Mimar Sinan District.

WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE SECOND SQUARE OF ÜSKÜDAR WITH THE PEOPLE ASAP.

Stating that construction is a project designed with a different system, İmamoğlu said, “It is a system built by descending from top to bottom. It is very precious for Üsküdar. The people of Üsküdar are also looking forward to the Mayor of Üsküdar. It is a project that we care about. Our team is under constant supervision here. Our contractor company is an institution with experience in this business. We wanted to make the most of these days and finish them by the end of this year. Of course, this Covid effect affects every job site. I hope, without delay, we present this place to the people of Üsküdar in a calendar close to our word. As a result, we intend to meet the people of Üsküdar as soon as possible with the permission of the municipality, the bazaar of the municipality, the parking lot of the IMM, the historical texture around it, the Mimar Sinan Bazaar and the mosques, the square below, and the part stretching to the beach. Now the squares are subject to another interpretation due to Covid. How will the squares be used? How will people socialize in the squares? Many rules are being rewritten in the world; in public transportation, squares, parks, everywhere… Including working environments. The squares are becoming an important area for life - it was already - in the world life after the next pandemic. ”

İmamoğlu and Türkmen landed on the Üsküdar coast after a field trip there and examined the restoration works at the historical Kuşkonmaz Mosque on the spot.
