Samsun Sivas Railway Will Provide Great Savings; AK Party Samsun Deputy Orhan Kırcalı stated that the Samsun-Sivas-Kalın railway line, which will also transport freight as well as passengers, will be reopened this month and said, “Approximately 9 and a half hours of road will be reduced to 5 hours after these works. The modernization efforts, which were launched 88 years ago with the support of the European Union (EU) grant, are still continuing on the 4-year Samsun-Sivas Kalın railway line, which was opened by laying the foundation of great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

LINE OPENED TO ANATOLIA

Trials are being carried out every day on the renewed rails on the railway line, which is the largest project carried out outside the borders with the European Union (EU) grants. With the Samsun-Sivas (Kalın) line, which is one of the two railway lines of the Black Sea opening to Anatolia, cargo transportation will be made from the ports in the region as well as the passenger.

CAPACITY INCREASING

The daily train capacity of the line, which will increase the speed of transportation from 60 kilometers to 100 kilometers around the modernization, will increase from 21 to 54, annual passenger capacity from 95 million to 168 million, and load traffic from 657 million tons to 867 million tons. On the route, where the travel time will decrease from 9.5 hours to 5 hours, while the level crossings have been turned into automatic barriers, the platforms have been improved in line with EU standards in accordance with the disabled access.

MADE WITH EU FUND

4 prepared a modernization project for Samsun-Kalın Railway line with the support of EU grant funds. With the project, the 40 historical bridge was restored and the rail, sleeper, ballast, scissors superstructure of the line, which underwent improvement works in 2 thousand 476 meters length tunnel, was changed.

TO OPEN IN NOVEMBER

AK Party Samsun Deputy Orhan Kırcalı said, “During the modernization works, some difficulties were experienced due to the geographical conditions of our region. These problems also prolonged the commissioning process of the line. The teams work 7/24 and struggle to get the line into service as soon as possible. According to the latest information we have obtained, the line will be put into service again in November. The distance of approximately 9 and a half hours will be reduced to 5 hours after these works.
