Republic of Turkey Ministry of Transportation Main Strategy February 2005 In the Final Report: 400-600 is the most effective one in today's high speed trains. It would not be wrong to say that high-speed trains and urban rail systems, which will include the priority principle of public transport in passenger transport, will be the main transportation modes of the future.
The Ankara-İzmir highway distance is approximately 587 km long and the road passenger transportation takes 8-9 hours. Air freight between Ankara and Izmir, on the other hand, is around 3 hours 25 minutes, including transportation and operations at airports and waiting time.
The need to reshape the transportation among the most important cities of our country such as Ankara and İzmir emerged. In line with this requirement, Ankara İzmir YHT Project came to the agenda.
This project consists of a new railway line starting from Yenice Village at 22 km of Ankara Konya High Speed Line and a route that envisages the improvement of the existing line that reaches Uşak and Manisa province centers from Afyon to Menemen.
If this project is put into practice, it is planned to travel between Ankara and Izmir in 1 hours and 20 minutes, with 2 hour 30 minutes between Ankara and Afyon and 3 hours 50 minutes between Afyon and İzmir.
A tender was made for the Polatlı-Afyon section of the project, which was included in the 2011 investment program. Distance and road time according to projects:

SPEED RAILWAY HISTORY OF TURKEY
