Istanbul-Izmir Motorway, which is the lifeblood of our country's economy and where most of the population lives, connects the Marmara and Aegean Regions, which include cities such as Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Balikesir, Manisa and Izmir, and provides a large part of the exports with the road network constituting the infrastructure of all investments. The project, which includes the total 384 km length of Osmangazi Bridge, including 42 km of Highway and 426 km of Connection Road, includes 11 Billion dollars including investment cost.
The route of the project; It starts from Muallimköy Junction, which is about 2,5 km in the direction of Ankara from Gebze Bridge Junction on the Anatolian Motorway, and crosses the İzmit Gulf with the Osmangazi Bridge built between Dilovası - Hersekburnu and connects with the Yalova - İzmit State Road and goes parallel to the State Road. After the Orhangazi Junction, the route continues from the south of Gemlik District and connects to the Bursa Motorway at Çağlayan Junction in Ovaakça locality. Following the Bursa West Intersection, the project route extends to the north of Uluabat Lake, heading south-west from Karacabey to Sustluk and north of Balıkesir, followed by Soma-Akhisar-Saruhanlı-Turgutlu districts and in the vicinity of Karasuluk. It ends at the bus station junction on the road.
Especially on the road route that serves heavy traffic with heavy vehicles; to ensure the safety of traffic and life, shorten travel time, to contribute to the development of regional tourism and industry with the implementation of the project and the Aegean and Marmara regions to meet the expectations of the transportation infrastructure, the industry needs to create new investment areas and the transportation of ports, rail and air transport systems integration will be provided.
With the opening of Istanbul-Izmir Motorway; Edirne-Istanbul-Ankara Motorway and İzmir-Aydın, İzmir-Çeşme Motorway will be connected to the Marmara and Aegean Regions, which form the backbone of the country's economy, with a fully accessible controlled highway network.
Furthermore, the integration of the Marmara Motorway will be completed with the North Marmara Motorway (including YSS Bridge), Çanakkale Malkara Motorway (including 1915 Çanakkale Bridge) and Kınalı-Malkara and Çanakkale-Savaştepe Motorway which are planned to be constructed. It will speed up transportation by shortening the distance to Bursa, Kocaeli and Istanbul; thus, it will contribute to the economy and agriculture of the Aegean Region.

With the highway, which will shorten the distance of the Istanbul-Izmir Highway from Bursa to Istanbul and Izmir, the transportation between Istanbul and Bursa, which is 3 hours, will be reduced to 1 hour.
